There are many materials for galvanized pipe fittings, but when choosing the material, it is generally appropriate to use carbon structural steel, because the galvanizing treatment is mainly to improve the corrosion resistance of the steel pipe, and the corrosion resistance of other materials itself is a little better, and some are not suitable for galvanized surface treatment, and the material requirements of galvanized pipes are mainly as follows:
1. Low carbon: the higher the carbon content of the steel pipe, the higher the hardness of the steel, but the worse its plasticity and toughness, while the galvanized steel pipe is generally required to have a carbon content of no more than 0.2% due to the high requirements of toughness, weldability and formability.
2. Add alloying elements based on manganese.
3. Add niobium, titanium or vanadium and other auxiliary elements: a small amount of niobium, titanium or vanadium forms fine carbides or carbonitrides in steel, which is conducive to obtaining fine ferrite grains and improving the strength and toughness of steel. In addition, adding a small amount of copper (≤0.4%) and phosphorus (about 0.1%) can improve the corrosion resistance of galvanized pipes.
4. Adding a small amount of rare earth elements can desulfurize and degasses, purify the steel, and improve the toughness and process performance.
